About Me...

A seasoned Human Resources professional with over 25 years of experience, Ms. Luz Nuñez has a proven track record of building inclusive workplace cultures and advancing conflict resolution strategies. She is the founder of Aurora Leadership Consulting, dedicated to developing leadership programs and strategies rooted in cultural humility. She is also a learning facilitator with the National Conflict Resolution Center, further solidifying her commitment to building respectful and collaborative work environments. Her consulting work specializes in policy design, employee engagement, leadership development and conflict resolution strategies centered on humility and compassion.

Luz holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, a Bachelor’s degree from National University, and certifications in DEI Leadership from eCornell, a trained Mediator through the National Conflict Resolution Center, and certified Human Rights Education Consultant through the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights. She completed her undergraduate studies while working full-time and raising her son as a single mother—an experience that shaped her drive, resilience, and commitment to preparing the next generation of Leaders.

In addition to her professional work, Luz is deeply engaged in community service. She is Vice-Chair of the Board for Outdoor Outreach, a nonprofit that empowers youth through outdoor experiences, has served as a mentor through Mana de San Diego’s Hermanitas Program, and contributes to other leadership development initiatives. She graduated from the inaugural HOPE San Diego Regional Leadership Institute, the Chicano Federation Leadership Training Institute, and played a key role as a founding Co-Chair for the San Diego Regional Council for the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives SoCal Chapter.

A proud Chicana, Luz has been a single mother since age 17, raising a son who lives with a disability. She has built a support circle of friends and family of diverse backgrounds and her life and work are informed by her lived experience and her commitment to building inclusive, cross-cultural communities. She is a lifelong ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and promotes the strength of family values and deep bonds that has supported her journey.
