Luz Nunez founded Aurora Leadership Consulting to help organizations unlock the true power of inclusive leadership. As a Latina, female, and LGBTQ+ professional, Luz brings lived experience to every engagement, bridging perspectives not always heard at traditional consulting tables. Her journey began in HR, leading teams through moments of both conflict and celebration across a diverse business landscape in the hospitality, nonprofit, healthcare and academic systems. Luz's expertise includes certification as a Mediator, Human Rights Educator, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leader, equipping her to facilitate brave conversations and build practical strategies for positive change.

Meet Our Founder
Luz Nuñez
Founder & Principal Consultant
A seasoned Human Resources professional with over 25 years of experience, Ms. Luz Nuñez has a proven track record of building inclusive workplace cultures and advancing conflict resolution strategies. She is dedicated to developing leadership programs and strategies rooted in cultural humility. Her consulting work specializes in policy design, employee engagement, leadership development and conflict resolution strategies centered on humility and compassion.
Luz holds a master’s degree in human resource management, a bachelor’s degree from National University, and certifications in DEI Leadership from eCornell, a trained Mediator through the National Conflict Resolution Center, and certified Human Rights Education Consultant through the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights. She completed her undergraduate studies while working full-time and raising her son as a single mother—an experience that shaped her drive, resilience, and commitment to preparing the next generation of Leaders.
In addition to her professional work, Luz is deeply engaged in community service. She is Vice-Chair of the Board for Outdoor Outreach, a nonprofit that empowers youth through outdoor experiences, has served as a mentor through Mana de San Diego’s Hermanitas Program, and contributes to other leadership development initiatives. Appointed to the San Diego County Committee for Persons with Disabilities in 2026, Luz also advocates for the rights of diverse communities through advocacy and civic engagement. She graduated from the inaugural HOPE San Diego Regional Leadership Institute, the Chicano Federation Leadership Training Institute, and played a key role as a founding Co-Chair of the San Diego Regional Council for the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives SoCal Chapter. Currently, Luz is a contributing Co-Chair for the Latinas in Healthcare Circle with LeanIn Latinas, a national network of professional women in healthcare whose mission is to advance Latina leadership and pay equity.
A proud Chicana Luz reflects the Latina values she carries in her roots and heritage. A single mother since age 17, raising a son who lives with a disability, she has built a support circle of friends and family of diverse backgrounds. Her life and work are informed by her lived experience and her commitment to building inclusive, cross-cultural communities. She is a lifelong ally to the LGBTQIA+ community and promotes the strength of family values and deep bonds that has supported her journey along the way.
